AMITE—Despite limited rain delays late last week, the contractor expects to push forward on several overlay projects this coming week.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said the weather has been fairly cooperative in these early stages of the Phase 22 overlay project.

“We are pleased with the progress so far,” Miller said, noting that road work is ongoing in all 10 Parish Council districts.

Next week’s schedule includes work in the following areas:

In addition to these local road projects, Miller said the parish has received notice from DOTD of the following state project that is scheduled during the week of June 13:

*June 13-16: DOTD will be making cable barrier repairs on I-55 north and south of Amite. The roadway will not be closed; however, motorists can expect a partial lane closure in the left lane. Areas impacted include a portion of I-55 approximately 2.4 miles north of the Amite exit and a second portion located approximately eight-tenths of a mile south of the Amite exit.

Miller also reminded motorists that movie crews will be working in Tangipahoa Parish over the next few days. As a result, several local roads will be closed during filming, including:

*June 14-16: Wadesboro Road between Jones Road and Everett Lane. Traffic in that area will be closed to traffic between the hours of 6 a.m., and 10 p.m., each day;

*June 17: West Robinson Street, West Church Street, and West Dakota between Railroad Avenue and Oak Streets in Hammond will be closed to traffic. Additionally, there may be intermittent traffic delays in the area around NW Railroad Avenue and North Oak between Church Street and Carter Lane. Those closures are expected between the hours of 1-5 p.m.
