PONCHATOULA—Rain has once again delayed several road projects across Tangipahoa Parish, forcing at least one road closure on the south end to be extended through the middle of next week.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said heavy rains experienced across the parish this week delayed crews from being able to complete the culvert replacement project on West Hoffman Road. That closure will now be extended until Wednesday, Aug. 17, as crews finalize the repair and overlay at the site.

Rain delays have also impacted the Phase 22 road overlay projects. Miller said the contractor plans to mill Cannino Road, Mayeaux Road, Crapanzano Road, Greco Road, and E. Merry Street during the week of August 15. Weather permitting, crews will also be dressing South Elm Street, Celia Avenue, Fern Street, Lee Farm Road, Fern Street, West and East Bennett Lane, Lanier Road, North Rateau Road, 11th Street, Rue Monet, Forest Lane, Beckendorf Road, and North Lee Hughes Road.

On the RPC contract, crews will be milling and then paving Rufus Bankston Road next week. Patch work continues on Happywoods Road, weather permitting.

Miller said parish road crews will close Ellis Road in Loranger on Wednesday, Aug. 17, to install several new culverts. The roadway will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day, weather permitting, and signs will be posted to remind motorists of the closure.
