Can I do my required community service litter detail anywhere I want?
No, 21st Judicial District Court has designated the TPSO/TPG Partnership Litter Program as the only approved program for completing your mandatory litter community service hours. All community service litter work must be performed under the supervision of these agencies staff. You must call the Tangipahoa Parish Government Road and Bridge Department at 985-748-2265. You will be assigned the next available litter detail work days available.

Where do I report for community service?
You will report to one of the two Parish Maintenance Barns. The South-end Maintenance Barn is located at 44512 West Pleasant Ridge Road in Hammond. The North-end Maintenance Barn is located at 63101 Commercial Street in Roseland. Please ask for directions to your assigned location when you call to schedule your work days. You must bring your “Community Service Work Form” with you each day to be signed and stamped by the Maintenance Supervisor.

When will I do my MANDATORY hours of Litter Abatement Community Service work?
The program operates on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. You will be assigned to work to consecutive Saturdays to complete your required 16 hours of Litter Abatement Community Service hours. You must be signed in by 7:00 AM and you will be released at 3:30 PM.

What do I do when I report?
After you arrive, ask for the Maintenance Supervisor. He will have you sign in, then assign you a vest & latex gloves. You will then be transported to your job site. When you return at the end of the day, you will return all equipment then sign out on the log sheet.

Can I work half a day?
No, the type of work does not permit working half days.

Can I bring anything to listen to while I work?
No, listening to headphones or talking on a cell phone can be dangerous when working near roadways. Please leave all cell phones and music devices in your vehicle before starting the day.

Do I need to bring my lunch?
Yes, you may bring a lunch or bring cash to purchase something on your 30 minute lunch break.

What do I need to wear?
Dress for working outdoors. No flip flops, no open-toed shoes and no shorts. Please wear comfortable shoes and a belt. You may bring your own work gloves if you like, because you will only be provided latex gloves. In cold weather, dress warmly as you will be working outside.

What happens if I fail to do my community service?
If you don’t show up for your assigned community service work days or fail to fully participate to the satisfaction of the supervisor, a letter will be sent to your probation officer and the judge. You may violate your probation, resulting in you serving the remainder of your probation in jail.
