Tangi Alert - This is an emergency notification program will provide residents with alerts about any hazardous event. Amite, La.— Tangipahoa Registrar of Voters Andi Matheu would like to remind everyone that early voting for the November 13, 2021 election (previously scheduled for October 9) will begin Saturday, October 30, and will continue through the following Saturday, November 06. “You don’t need a reason to take advantage of Early Voting week,” Matheu said, “if you think election day may be a busy day for you, you have 7 other days to visit us and cast your vote ahead of time. Both of our locations are open from 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM during early voting week for your convenience”. LORANGER—On Friday, Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announced that a portion of North Cooper Road in Loranger will be milled and scheduled for overlay next week. All work is weather-permitting, Miller said. Signs will be posted on the day of construction, and Miller reminds motorists to use alternate routes, where possible, due to traffic delays during the construction period. Tangi Opens Shelters Of Last Resort Saturday, Aug. 28th, Starting At 6 p.m.

Sandbags Operations Continue 8/28/2021

AMITE—In preparation for what is expected to be a Category 4 hurricane approaching the south Louisiana coast this weekend, Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller will continue sandbag operation both self-serve and ready-made sandbag locations at 15 locations throughout the parish.

Recommended Evacuation Due To Threat Of Hurricane Ida

PONCHATOULA—Due to the forecast track for Hurricane Ida, Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announced a “recommended evacuation" to those residents who live south of LA 22 as well as those staying in mobile homes and travel trailers.

“While this is not a mandatory evacuation, I strongly encourage our residents who live in low-lying, flood-prone areas south of LA 22 to prepare now and voluntarily evacuate their homes in advance of landfall and the flood surge that forecasters are predicting with this storm,” Miller said.
