AMITE---Due to the forecast track of Tropical Storm Barry, the Tangipahoa Parish Landfill will be closed Friday, July 12, and Saturday, July 13.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said the landfill, located at 57510 Hano Road west of Independence, will reopen on Monday, July 15.

The significant changes this advisory are:

1)Hurricane Warning now in effect from Intracoastal City to the Mouth of Pearl River, LA, including the city of New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

2) Storm Surge Warning in effect from Atchafalaya River to Shell Beach. 

3) Storm Surge Watch is now in effect for Mississippi coast and north and northwest sides of Lake Pontchartrain.

4) Main concern still remains the excessive rainfall and flash flood potential over a large area, particularly over southeast Louisiana.
