Gordon Burgess, Parish President

In addition to serving the people of Tangipahoa
Parish, Mr. Burgess spends his free time tending to his small
cattle farm located near Loranger. In 1955 he entered the
U.S. Army and served two years with a Nike Missile Anti-Aircraft
Battery. After serving almost four years of active reserve
duty with the National Guard, Mr. Burgess was recalled by
President Kennedy to serve during the Berlin Crisis. He was
honorably discharged in 1962. Mr. Burgess is currently a member
of the Board of Commerce & Industry, the Tangipahoa Parish
Economic Development Foundation, the Regeion VI Police Jury
Association, Metro Vision, the Capital Regional Planning Committee,
Zachary Taylor Parkway Commission and the Amite Rotary Club.
He is married to Margaret and they are the grandparents of
Alex Burgess, the son of Wade and Amy Burgess.
